Hauptwerk is a software program, which allows playback of highly realistic pipe organ sample sets recorded from instruments all over the world. This program presents local Hauptwerk setups. Presenters will review their components, budgets, challenges, and demo their instruments.

About The Event

Part 1 - Sunday, January 24, 3 PM: Learn how to build your own Hauptwerk system with Matt Smith showing how he repurposed computers, keyboards, a used bench and pedal board to construct his system.  Annette Upton will present Hauptwerk 101: what it is and an overview of how she built her Hauptwerk system.

Presenters: Annette Upton and Matt Smith. Annette holds a Ph.D in computer science and works as a computer engineer for Intel Corporation.  Her husband, Joe, happily takes credit for encouraging her to launch serious organ studies 8 years ago and continues to aid and abet her musical habits.  Matt is the chapter webmaster and publicity chair and former Music Director at St Stephen's Episcopal Church and St Timothy Lutheran Church in Portland, and former organist at St John Lutheran Church in San Francisco.
